TWO IN ONE

Type: Residential
Scale: 1400 sqm

Faced with the challenge of accommodating two residential units within a limited urban plot, our fundamental question was to transcend the common typology of “apartment buildings.”

.

Could distinct lifeworlds be contained within a single site without sacrificing their visual and structural autonomy for the sake of unity? Our answer lay in redefining “Form”—not as a decorative skin, but as a “mechanism” that guarantees functional independence.

Here, we are not dealing with two “units,” but with two “houses” interlocked. The smaller house (120 sqm), with its own independent access and vital arteries, is embedded like a component within the larger one. The larger house, expanding vertically, accommodates diverse layers of life (from dwelling to fitness and working in the rooftop office).

.

This programmatic separation directly translates into the project’s external behavior. Two volumes, distinct in material and geometry, broadcast this internal autonomy to the city. Instead of mimicking the neighborhood context, “Two in One” relies on its internal logic and climatic response to carve a unique character into the district’s profile; a form that coexists with the context.
