Sanctuary House
Type: Residential
Scale: 400 sqm
The “Sanctuary House” project was conceived to meet a family’s need for a home that respected their privacy while also adapting to the region’s hot climate.
Our design process began by reinterpreting the plot’s irregular form. We divided the land into smaller sections, each holding the potential for a specific and unique space. This approach allowed us to separate the public and private areas, connecting them with a central communication space.
This space guides the home’s entrance into a semi-open area, a cool and pleasant welcome that offers a respite from the scorching sun.
In this house, the front yard is no longer just a path; it’s a space you choose to inhabit. We also incorporated two inner courtyards at the heart of the home, which function like lungs, drawing in light and fresh air while simultaneously preserving privacy.
The house is designed without direct openings to the street, nourishing itself from within its courtyards. Additionally, the tall walls of the terraces turn them into private yards, completely shielding them from outside views. Ultimately, this home is a place of comfort and tranquility, providing a safe and inviting space for a family to live by honoring both privacy and climate.
