LIBERTY MUSEUM

Type: Civic – Cultural

Scale: 11000 sqm

We define Liberty not as “freedom from restrictions,” but as a “Visual and Tangible Conception” that applies equally to human beings and objects. Our manifesto is rooted in the philosophy of inner origin; as Gandhi stated, freedom is shaped inside the human, not outside. By respecting the nature of things, we allow them to be themselves. The Liberty Museum rejects the static image; it utilizes Copper—a material that corrodes and breathes with time—to mirror the dynamic essence of antiquity and change. Architecture, in this context, is the act of “Feeling Suspended”; a state where the soul encounters its own free-will.

The design process of the Liberty Museum is a “Metamorphosis” that spans from 2020 to 2070, evolving from a static site into a dynamic architectural entity. The main form is conceived as a volume that seems to “fly from the island,” supported by a structural forest of columns that creates a profound sense of suspension. The project breaks the traditional barriers of space; on the ground floor, the island’s plaza and the museum’s plaza intersect seamlessly at two different levels, connected via an underground passage at level -1.

A crucial element of the design is the “Mirror and Reflection” strategy, where the boundary between earth and sky is blurred, placing the visitor in a conceptual reflection of their own existence. The use of copper as a living skin ensures that the museum is not a finished monument, but a process of transformation, much like the Statue of Liberty itself. Through this path, the structure becomes a “Tectonic Embodiment of Freedom,” where the circulation unconsciously places people within a dialogue between the museum, the island, and the horizon.
